As Thanksgiving is fast approaching, I am already counting my blessings and thanks.
Foremost, I am thankful for my family and the opportunity to serve as the eighth President of Butler County Community College.
Just today I ran into a former student from my Introduction to Public Relations class from spring of 2004. She said she still thinks of the course and appreciates what BC3 has done for her in her quest to earn a bachelor’s degree from Liberty University. Read the rest of this entry »

I write as I am on the 40th floor of the Marriott New York Grand Marquis in Times Square. The City is at its normal hustle-and-bustle for another business day. Spirits seem high with yesterday’s huge gain on Wall Street.
The Association of Community College Trustees 39th Annual Leadership Conference begins today. Some of the sessions I will attend include 24-7 Media, Textbook Costs, College Crisis Management and Future Profiles of Community College Students.
Here’s to a great conference and some best practices I can bring back to BC3!

It’s hard to believe its already past midterm for the fall 2008 semester. I hope that your classes are going well and that you are enjoying the early fall weather on our beautiful campus.
It’s perfect weather for taking a walk at BC3. On my walks, I can’t help but notice all of the activity at the construction site for the new Student Success Center. The project is on schedule with most of the walls up and most of the building under a roof now. Read the rest of this entry »

A College goal, as well as one of my own presidential goals as approved by the Board or Trustees for the 2008-09 academic year, pertains to campus safety.
BC3 took a major step in its proactive safety plan when our Board of Trustees approved a firearms policy for campus police. The policy was approved at the September Trustees meeting and includes proper training opportunities for our police department. Read the rest of this entry »
